Teach you how to import jade

According to the national standards for jewelry and jade, jade refers to a mineral aggregate or amorphous substance produced in nature that is beautiful, rare, durable, and can be processed into jewelry and handicrafts, distinguished from single crystal gemstones or organic gemstones related to life activities. According to the "Notes on Import and Export Tariff Commodities and Items", jade raw materials should be classified as unprocessed or simply sawn or roughly formed gemstones (excluding diamonds) or semi precious stones under tax number 7103.1000.

With the progress of science and technology and the deepening of human understanding of nature, the variety of jade is becoming increasingly diverse. There are more than 40 types of jade specifically listed in the national jewelry and jade standards. The physical and chemical properties such as hardness, luster, and texture of different jade varieties vary greatly, and the prices also vary greatly. According to the chemical composition and mineral composition types of jade, it can be divided into the following main types:

Standardize declaration elements

According to the "2021 Catalogue and Interpretation of Customs Import and Export Commodity Specification Declaration of the People's Republic of China", the following elements need to be declared for jade raw materials under import tax number 7103.1000:

1. Product name; 2. Type; 3. Degree of processing (unprocessed, simply sawn, rough formed); 4. Status (not strung or embedded); 5. Source (natural); 6. Grade; 7. Scientific and English names of minerals; 8. Specifications; 9. Chemical composition; 10. Myanmar public trading requires declaration of jade number and quantity; 11. Color.

Common examples of non-standard declaration

Because there are many varieties of jade, some of which have relatively similar commercial names, and some of which have similar mineral and chemical compositions, it is easy to confuse or omit reports in the import declaration process. Based on the relevant requirements of the "2021 Catalogue and Interpretation of Customs Import and Export Commodity Standards of the People's Republic of China", we will briefly explain through a few examples:

Product A: Declared Product Name: Jade Raw Stone; Declared specifications and models: Jade raw stone, unprocessed, block like, natural, no grade, English name Jade original stone, irregular, mineral, non Myanmar public transaction, dark green.

Analysis: The declaration of commodity A is too vague, and the specific variety, mineral name, and chemical composition of jade are not declared according to the requirements of the standardized declaration catalog, which affects customs classification and evaluation. Therefore, the specific variety, mineral name, and chemical composition of jade should be declared on the basis of the original declaration.

Product B: Declared product name: Jasper; Declared specifications and models: jasper, unprocessed, simple sawn, natural, no grade, jasper, 85x60CM, mineral, cyan

Analysis: According to China's national standards and commonly used product names in the industry, both nephrite and quartzite jade contain varieties named jasper or jasper. Enterprises apply for jasper, but do not declare specific mineral names and chemical compositions, making it impossible to determine the variety and affecting the price evaluation. Therefore, the specific variety should be declared as nephrite or quartzite jade on the original basis.

Product C: Declared Product Name: Quartz Stone; Declared specifications and models: quartz stone, unprocessed, natural mining without trimming sawing, not strung, not embedded, no grade, mineral composition of quartz quartz, chemical composition of SiO2, non Myanmar public transaction, gray.

Analysis: According to China's national standard, quartz jade includes multiple varieties such as chalcedony, agate, Dongling stone, tiger eye stone, and silicified wood. Product C is declared as quartz stone, but no specific variety has been declared, which affects the evaluation and classification. Therefore, specific jade varieties should be declared.
