What does "customs inspection" look for?

Customs container inspection may incur additional fees, but these fees are not collected by the customs, but rather fees such as container hanging fees and container dismantling fees charged by the port. As this fee is only for customs inspection, the port generally refers to these fees as customs inspection fees, and the port will issue a formal invoice.

These container inspection fees are paid by SHIPPER.

Generally, there will be an inspection notice before the customs inspects the goods, and an inspection report will be provided after the inspection is completed.

Inspection is an important means of customs supervision, and customs declaration is just a procedure. The customs will conduct spot checks on sensitive product names based on their own experience and policies at the time, and of course, sometimes without any reason.

During inspection, the box will be opened to check if it is consistent with the customs declaration information, including product name, quantity, declared value, etc., whether there is tax fraud, evasion of inspection, and incorrect HS code classification.

Customs inspection is not charged, but because the inspection is conducted in the port area, the port area is responsible for unpacking, loading and unloading, sealing, etc. Therefore, payment to the port area is required, which is also a national regulation.

There are generally several directions for customs inspection of goods, and common problems with inspection errors include:

A. Verify product name
What is more prone to errors here is that product scientific and common names are easily mistaken, and then the Chinese product name translated from multiple meanings of English words sometimes does not match the actual product name.

B. Verify specifications
It is easy to make mistakes that some factory customers have printed out the packaging specifications for cardboard boxes. There are also many specifications that require a maximum and a minimum, and there are also some irregular product lengths. There are two specifications, one for the upper length and the other for the lower length.

C. Verify quantity
It is the total quantity, and the ones that are prone to errors are those that report less and report more, especially for tax refunds. The reason for frequent errors here is that the customs declaration information was prepared in advance, and there were changes in the data during container loading that were forgotten to be updated.

D. Verify weight

There are two areas where weight is more prone to errors.

The first is that the difference between the gross and net weight of bulk goods and the actual weight is over 3% -5%.

The second issue is that products priced by weight only know the gross weight, but the net weight is calculated. Many customers use the formula of subtracting the net weight from the gross weight by dividing the number of pieces by no more than 1 or 2 kilograms to calculate the net weight backwards, which results in a discrepancy with the actual net weight. I once experienced a funny customer using this method to calculate the wrong net weight, and during the final inspection, the customs did not need to open the box and weigh it to determine that there was a problem, The reason is that each custom-made cardboard box has a box mark on it, which shows the gross and net weight of each room, which is completely different from the weight on the customs declaration. This is also too careless, and it is estimated that the cardboard box was made in advance.

E. Check the number of pieces
A common mistake is that the tail box, samples, and gifts were not included. Once, a customer produced their own goods in a cabinet and loaded them at the door of the cabinet. They helped foreign customers load 4-5 boxes of products from other factories purchased in China, but the total number of pieces did not sum up.

F. Check the shipping mark
Some products have labels, some do not, and some labels reflect some products
