On September 7, 2023, Sweden urgently reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) a case of African swine fever among wild pigs in the Fagersta region of the country. In order to protect the safety of China's animal husbandry and prevent the introduction of the epidemic, in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its implementing regulations, the following announcements are hereby made:
It is prohibited to import pigs, wild pigs and their products directly or indirectly from Sweden.
It is prohibited to send or carry pigs, wild pigs and their products from Sweden into the country. Once found, it shall be returned or destroyed.
3. All wastes of animal or plant nature and swill unloaded from ships, aircraft and other means of transport arriving from Sweden shall be disposed of under the supervision of the Customs and shall not be abandoned without authorization.
(4) The illegal entry of pigs, wild pigs and their products from Sweden intercepted by border inspection and other departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of the Customs.
5. Any violation of the above provisions shall be dealt with by the Customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its implementing Regulations.
6. Customs and agricultural and rural departments at all levels shall, in accordance with the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and the Law of the People's Republic of China on Animal Epidemic Prevention and other relevant provisions, work closely together to do a good job in quarantine, epidemic prevention and supervision.
This announcement shall come into effect as of the date of promulgation.
It is hereby announced.
